can someone explain this to me? Anthropocentrism?
Anthropocentrism ought to be valued above biocentrism
This is a debate topis. Can you guys tell me what it actually means, what is means to you, and what you think? Thanks
The theory of anthropocentrism says that the world exists for humanity. Believers in this philosophy would say that humans can rightfully try to benefit as much as possible from the environment.
The opposite of anthropocentrism is biocentrism. While anthropocentrism argues in favor of a world view centering solely around humans and only recognizes value in human beings, biocentrism feels that everything in nature has value.
Therefore, the debate topic says that the needs of people take precedence over the needs of nature, and that exploitation of the environment is man’s right.
Personally, I’m somewhere in the middle. I think that humans should care for and nurture the environment, not simply use it.
