I got an email from Polar Research Journal, which made me happy because it seems we are, at last, starting to understand that each discipline has a little bit of the puzzle and that we can see more of the picture if we share research, knowledge and skills.
SURPRISINGLY Polar Research encompasses research in all scientific disciplines relevant to the polar regions INCLUDING Human and Social Sciences.
Fields covered in Polar Research include:
Biology
Ecology
Geology
Oceanography
Glaciology
Atmospheric science
Human and social sciences

In the past we have missed many truths because we delineate, categorize and define. I thought this was really interesting in relation to Gender and Women’s Studies.
So does concentrating on Feminist research mean we can not see the bigger picture, the truths?
When I studied Gender Studies it was a Social Science.
It seems that the link does not work for some. It is irrelevant anyway I was just using it as a reference for the content cited above.
Please note it IS of interest to those interested in human studies and social sciences on two counts both relevant to this question.
The ‘pure sciences’ have always excluded social sciences as being irrelevant, this is a recognition that every aspect of the way we experience something IS relevant. You can not look at one section/academic discipline in isolation to see the bigger picture.
No Feminist Research?? Now I am certain those who finance it, carry it out, spread the ideas to students and read it, will be as surprised at this does not exist as I am!
Looking at all issues from a Feminist Perspective is NOT only seeing half of the picture?
What about the human perspective (discrimination against males, against males AND females)?
